UFC Delays Montreal Show Date submitted: 19 January 2012

The UFC has ditched plans for a show in Montreal in March, according to a report originally published by the Canadian Press. Although the show was never officially announced, UFC 145 had been set for March 24 at the Bell Centre. But due to scheduling complications and a desire to produce an event of championship caliber the UFC decided to postpone the show until later this year. Several bouts, including a matchup between Montreal-based prospect Rory MacDonald and British slugger Che Mills, were rumoured for the card. The Las Vegas-based fight promotion made its Canadian debut in Montreal in April 2008, when Georges St. Pierre beat Matt Serra to win the UFC welterweight title in front of a sold-out Bell Centre crowd. Montreal has since been a staple of the UFC's annual touring circuit, setting the promotion's attendance record on three different occasions. |
